RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO WITHHOLD A SUM EQUIVALENT TO UNION DUES FOR WILLING CITY EMPLOYEES

body

WHEREAS, the Jonesboro Fire Fighter’s Association Local 2849, which represents a portion of the members of the Jonesboro Fire Department and the Jonesboro Police Association Local 191, which represents a portion of the members of the Jonesboro Police Department, desire to have the City of Jonesboro withhold a sum equivalent to the union dues of each member who authorizes the City to do so in writing; and

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro has not recognized either of these unions as an official representative of either the Fire Department or the Police Department and does not intend that its willingness to perform the check-off of the dues be interpreted as any type of recognition of either union by the City; and

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro has been assured that this check-off will not cause the City to expend any additional funds to implement it.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that the finance director shall withhold a sum equivalent to the union dues from the pay check of each member who authorizes him to do so in writing.
