A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO FILL THE VACANCY FOR ALDERMAN WARD 6 POSITION 1

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro has a vacancy in the Alderman position for Ward 6 Position 1; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council that this position be filled by a special election of the citizens of the City of Jonesboro.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
1. We hereby call for a special election to fill the vacancy in the Alderman position for Ward 6 Position 1.
2. The date of the special election shall be held on May 10, 2016.
3. The deadline for candidates to file for office shall be March 11, 2016.
4. The date that the candidates shall draw for ballot positions with the County Board of Election Commissioners shall be March 15, 2016.
5. The special election shall be certified by the County Board on May 13, 2016, if there is no necessity for a run-off election.
6. The date set for a run-off election, should one be necessary, shall be June 7, 2016.
7. The date that the run-off election shall be certified by the County Board shall be June 10, 2016.
