body

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2718, vacating and abandoning portions of Gordon and Word Streets contained a provision which prevented physical closure until improvements were made to the Culberhouse Street/Johnson Avenue intersection; and

WHEREAS, with new plans for the widening of Johnson Avenue, and associated intersection improvements at Culberhouse, such provision is no longer deemed necessary;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

SECTION 1: That Section Three of Ordinance No. 2718 be, and is hereby amended to read as follows:  That all utility easements remain as currently existing on deed records.

SECTION 2: Emergency Clause.  It is hereby found and determined that the immediate physical closures of said portions of streets are necessary to promptly effectuate planned improvements in the area, and to protect public health, safety and welfare; an emergency is therefore declared to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
