A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO PURCHASE PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE CORNER OF WEST NETTLETON & JAMES STREET

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro desires to purchase the property located at the corner of West Nettleton and James Street (commonly known as Optimist Park), Jonesboro, Arkansas for the purpose of park improvements and building a fire station; and
WHEREAS, an offer has been made to and accepted by the governing body of the Southwest Church of Christ agreeing to sell the property more particularly described in the following property description:
PT OF SW ¼ & PT OF NW ¼ OF SE ¼ IN SEC 24, TWP 14N, RG 4E
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro agrees that a permanent easement will be granted to the Southwest Church of Christ in the Northeast corner of said property to accommodate the existing church sign; and
WHEREAS, an offer and acceptance has been made by the City of Jonesboro to purchase said property for the price of $101,000.00 plus other allowable expenses; and
WHEREAS, the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas has provided funding for the acquisition of said property and park improvements.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, THAT:
Section 1: the City of Jonesboro approves the offer and acceptance to purchase PT OF SW ¼ & PT OF NW ¼ OF SE ¼ IN SEC 24, TWP 14N, RG 4E from the Southwest Church of Christ.
Section 2: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute the documents necessary to complete this transaction at a price of $101,000 plus other allowable expenses utilizing the designated State Turnback Funds.
