Minutes for the City Council meeting on November 2, 1971

The City Council met in a recessed meeting, Tuesday, November 2, 1971 at 6:00 p.m. There were present: City Attorney, City Clerk and the following named Councilmen: Park, Dr. Bowers, Williams, Carling, Smith, Bowers, Johnson and Knight. Absent: Mayor Pierce, Minx and Harris. Vice-Mayor Darling presided.
Mr. Knight offered the following resolution and moved for its adoption with Mr. Park seconding the motion. On calling the roll, Mr. Smith voted nay and all other members present voted aye. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION BY THE JONESBORO URBAN RENEWAL HOUSING AUTHORING FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO CARRY OUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
The resolution was given the number 1971:23.
Mr. Knight offered the following Ordinance for its 1st reading (#1316 Gas Code amend)
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO.824, SAME BEING AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE GAS CODE FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO
Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Bowers seconding the motion that the rule be suspended and the Ordinance be placed on the second reading. All members present voted aye and the motion carried. Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Johnson seconding the motion that the rule be further suspended and the Ordinance be placed on the third and final reading. All present voted aye and the motion carried. Mr. Knight then moved with Dr. Bowers seconding the motion that the Ordinance be adopted. All present voted aye and the motion was carried. Motion by Knight, seconded by Bowers to adopt the Emergency Clause passed unanimously.
There being no further business, Council voted unanimously to adjourn.
