AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF T1 PHONE EQUIPMENT FOR E-911

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:
SECTION 1: That the E-911 Center of the City of Jonesboro is in need of the T1 phone equipment since it is an integral part of the installation of the new radio equipment already begun by the Motorola Company.
SECTION 2: That said equipment may be purchased from Southwestern Bell of Jonesboro, Arkansas for the sum of $15,756.96 plus tax. This amount includes installation and shipping.
SECTION 3: That the City Council in accord with the terms of A.C.A. 14-58-302 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Agent to purchase the above described for the price set forth in Section 2 above.
SECTION 4: It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire the equipment an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
