Minutes for the City Council meeting on October 21, 1971

The City Council of the City of Jonesboro met in City Hall, Thursday, October 21, 1971, at 6:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Clerk and the following named Councilmen: Pierce, Park, Dr. Bowers, Williams, Darling, Minx, Bowers and Harris. Absent: City Attorney, Stricklin, Smith, Johnson and Knight.
After the bids were opened, Mr. Minx moved with Mr. Park seconding the motion that the surfacing of Commerce Street and the lot on the corner of Union & Burke be done by Barnett Construction Co. at a cost of $9.00 per ton. All members present voted aye and the motion carried.
Mr. Darling moved with Mr. Minx seconding the motion that the City lay a gravel base to the Krueger Co. in the Industrial Park. All present voted aye and the motion carried.
Mr. Darling moved with Dr. Bowers seconding the motion that the City submits a bid to the State of Arkansas for a garbage truck, offering services to ASU instead of cash if they would accept this. Otherwise an offer of cash could be made. All members voted aye and the motion carried.
There being no further business, Council voted unanimously to adjourn.
