BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

SECTION 1:  The City Council hereby finds and declares that the condition of traffic is such as to endanger the traveling public at the intersection of Fisher Street with Cate Avenue; and that a stop sign is hereby established and placed on the southeast corner of said intersection controlling the traffic traveling North on Fisher Street.

 

SECTION 2:  The drivers of all vehicles Northbound on Fisher Street shall stop at said “Stop Sign” and yield the right of way to vehicles on Cate Avenue before entering thereon.

 

SECTION 3:  Every person convicted of a violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall be punished by fine of not more than $15.00.

 

SECTION 4:  It is found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that the increasing traffic congestion and lack of any traffic control device here, the intersection of the streets aforesaid has caused a stoppage of traffic and a danger to life and property and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
