CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - JANUARY 2, 2001

OATH OF OFFICE - 6:10 P.M. - The Oath of Office was administered by Judge David Laser to the following city officials: Mayor Hubert Brodell, City Clerk Donna Jackson and six council members, position two from each of the six wards. Those members were: Bill Roddy, Paul Copeland, David Young, Harold Perrin, Chris Moore, and Cecil Province.

CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - January 2, 2001

The Jonesboro City Council met Monday, January 2, 2001, at 6:30 p.m. A full quorum was in attendance. Present were: Mayor Hubert Brodell, City Clerk Donna Jackson, City Attorney Phillip Crego, and 11 council members. Those members were: Kelton, McCall, Young, Crockett, Rorex, Rega, Province, Copeland, Moore, Perrin and Roddy. Councilman Tate was unable to attend.

Councilman Perrin moved, seconded by Councilman Roddy to approve the minutes as provided. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members voting aye were: Kelton, McCall, Young, Crockett, Rorex, Rega, Province, Copeland, Moore, Perrin and Roddy.

A proclamation was delivered by Mayor Brodell, proclaiming January, 2001 as Birth Defects Prevention Month and recognizing the leadership role of the March of Dimes in the fight to prevent birth defects. The three March of Dimes representatives to receive the Mayor’s Proclamation were Bill West, Jay Blackshare, and Darlene Calkin. Mayor Brodell praised their efforts and encouraged everyone to support the March of Dimes.

The following ordinance was on the third reading:

ORDINANCE TO REZONE PROPERTY FROM RESIDENTIAL (R-1) TO RESIDENTIAL (R-2), LOCATED AT 2101 W. MATTHEWS. (LORETTA LITTLE)

Councilman Young moved, seconded by Councilman Roddy for the adoption of the ordinance. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members voting aye were: Kelton, McCall, Young, Crockett, Rorex, Rega, Province, Copeland, Moore, Perrin and Roddy....
