The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Ark., met in regular session Monday night, November 4, 1968, at 7:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk and the following named Councilmen: Pierce, Turner, Bowers, Ledbetter, Darling, Stricklin, Minx, Pardew, Copeland, Young, Johnson and Knight.

Mr. Watkins had asked Council for a permit for a trailer park. After a petition was filed by property owners objecting to said trailer park, Mr. Johnson moved with Mr. Minx seconding the motion that the permit not be granted. On calling the roll, all members voted aye and the motion carried.

As there was no objection to a permit for a trailer park, requested by Lorene Richards, Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that the permit be granted. All voted aye and the motion was carried.

Mr. Darling moved with Mr. Pardew seconding the motion that the ordinance making Rains and Cobb a one-way street, which was on its third and final reading, be tabled until the next meeting. Voting aye: Pierce, Turner, Bowers, Ledbetter, Darling, Pardew and Johnson. Voting nay: Minx, Copeland, Young and Knight. Mr. Stricklin passed. Motion carried.

The following ordinance was on its first reading:

AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING BROWN’S LANE FROM HIGHLAND DRIVE SOUTH TO HIGHWAY 63 BY-PASS AS AN ARTERIAL STREET AND ESTABLISHING A RIGHT-OF-WAY OF 100 FEET; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that the rule be suspended and the ordinance be placed on the second reading. All members voted aye and the motion carried. Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that the rule be further suspended and the ordinance be placed on the third and final reading. All voted aye and the motion carried. Mr. Knight then moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that the ordinance be adopted. All aye and the motion carried. The emergency clause was unanimously voted...
