AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT PISTOLS FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT

Body

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:

 

SECTION ONE:  That the Police Department of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas needs to update and purchase 102 Glock police enforcement pistols.

 

SECTION TWO:  That said equipment may be purchased from Cruse Uniforms & Equipment, Inc., an only source provider, for the sum of $45,264.03, with freight and sales tax included.

 

SECTION THREE:  That Cruise Uniform & Equipment has extended an offer to trade in the current, older police pistols for the sum of $30,300 leaving a difference of $14,964.03 total expenditure.

 

SECTION FOUR:  That the City Council in accord with the terms of A.C.A. Section 14-58-303 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding since the purchase is an only source and directs the Purchasing Agent to purchase the above described for the price set forth in Section 2 above.

 

SECTION FIVE:  It is further found that due to immediate need to acquire this equipment and use on the city streets, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
