METROPOLITAN AREA PLANNING COMMISSION
MARCH 13, 2001

MEMBERS PRESENT: Beadles, Little, Damron, Gott, Bennett, Shaw, Phillips, Krennerich present for items 6-11

MEMBERS ABSENT: None (1 appointment vacant)

The minutes of the February 13, 2001 meeting were approved as submitted.

#1 RZ01-05 Lora Wells requested rezoning, from R-2 to C-3 Commercial, of Lot 5 in Block “B” of Pyle Replat of Block “B” of Pyle Addition, generally located at the northeast corner of Johnson Avenue and Rogers Street.

Bill Hafford explained that this is the proposed site of Bill’s Barber Shop and the Barber’s Daughter Beauty Shop, both of which are located in area to be demolished by the AHTD for the widening of Johnson Avenue. No opposition was expressed by any in attendance.

Mr. Bennett made a motion to recommend approval of the rezoning to the City Council as submitted. The motion was seconded by Ms. Shaw. Voting was 6 in favor, 0 opposed, MOTION CARRIED, REQUEST APPROVED.

#2 RZ01-06 L. D. Burrow and Geneva Barkley requested rezoning, from R-1 Residential to C-5 Commercial, of Lots 7 & 8 in Block “A” of Spence Subdivision, located at 2205 & 2207 Race Street.

Properties across the street and to the east and west are zoned commercially at this time and these two properties lie in the middle. No opposition was expressed by any in attendance.

A motion to recommend approval of the rezoning to the City Council was made by Ms. Shaw and seconded by Mr. Damron. Voting was 6 in favor, 0 opposed, MOTION CARRIED, REQUEST APPROVED.

#3 RZ01-07 Arthur Bradley requested rezoning, from R-2 Residential to C-5 Commercial, of Lot 13 of Block 3 of Matthews Addition, generally located between 221 & 233 Fisher Street.
