The City Council of the City of Jonesboro met in regular session in City Hall, Monday night, July 6, 1970, at 7:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk and the following named Councilmen: Pierce, Park, Young, Darling, Minx, Pardew, Williams, Johnson and Knight. Absent: Dr. Bowers, Stricklin and Bowers.

After the gasoline bids were opened, Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that the low bid from Gulf be accepted. Good Gulf, 13.40 plus tax and No-Nox, 15.40 plus tax. Roll was called and all present voted aye. Motion carried.

Mr. Knight offered the following ordinance for its first reading:

AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING THE WEST HALF OF THE NORTHEAST QUARTER OF THE SOUTHEAST QUARTER OF SECTION 28, TOWNSHIP 14 NORTH, RANGE 4 EAST; AND THE NORTH 490 FEET OF THE SOUTHEAST QUARTER OF THE SOUTHEAST QUARTER OF SECTION 28, TOWNSHIP 14 NORTH, RANGE 4 EAST, CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, ARKANSAS

Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that the rule be suspended and the ordinance be placed on the second reading. All present voted aye and the motion carried. Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Williams seconding the motion that the rule be further suspended and the ordinance be placed on the third and final reading. All present voted aye and the motion carried. Mr. Knight then moved with Mr. Williams seconding the motion that the ordinance be adopted. All present voted aye and the motion carried. The ordinance was given the number 1268.

Mr. Young offered the following ordinance for its first reading:

AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A PRIVILEGE TAX ON THE USERS OF WATER, DIRECTING THE COLLECTION THEREOF AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
