AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: That the Mayor’s Office needs to purchase an automobile, specifically a 1989 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Brougham, serial number 1G1BU51E6KR218990, for immediate use.
SECTION 2: That such vehicles may be purchased from Central Chevrolet Company of Jonesboro, Arkansas for the sum of $14,500.00.
SECTION 3: That the City Council, in accord with the terms of A.C.A. 14-58-302 (2) (B) hereby waives the requirements of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Officer to purchase the above described vehicles for the price set forth in Section 2 above. Said amount shall be moved from unappropriated money from the General Funds ti the Fixed Asset line item in the Administration Department.
SECTION 4: It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire an additional motor vehicle for the Mayor’s Office an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety shall take effect from and after its approval.
