AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 15-54 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY PROVIDING TWENTY MPH SPEED ZONE IN CERTAIN RESIDENTIAL SECTIONS

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro is hereby amended by adding sub-section to be numbered “14” to Section 15-54 (b) which said subsection reads as follows:

 

                     “Section 15-54 (b) “14”: Twenty miles per hour on Roy Street from Rosemond South to Wood Street.”

 

Section 2: It is found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that the existing general residential maximum speed limit of thirty miles per hour permits a speed in excess of that required by safety in certain residential areas of the City which speed is hazardous to the residents therein and, therefore, an emergency is declared to exist and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace and safety, it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.

 

PASSED and ADOPTED this 15th day of September, 1969.
