CITY COUNCIL MINUTES MARCH 20, 1978

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session, Monday March 20, 1978, at 7:30 p.m. Present: Mayor, City Attorney, Aldermen-Park, Sanderson, Hinson, Shelton, Bridger, Minx Hannah, Haigler, Stricklin, Province and Shepard. Absent: Smith. Also, visiting the meeting was the 9th grade Civics Class from high school.

Mr. Minx moved that the minutes of March 6, be approved as mailed, seconded by Mr. Hannah. All voted aye.

On motion by Mr. Stricklin, seconded by Mr. Park and unanimous vote of council the City was authorized to sell 2.72 acres of part of Lots 5, 6 and 7 of the Earl Kiech Addition for $10,000 an acre to Kiech Gin Company.

Mr. Bernard Weller with the United State Humane Society was present to discuss the city dog pound. Members of council had not been provided a copy of Mr. Weller’s report therefore; Mr. Park moved that any action be delayed for two weeks until council could study the report. The motion was seconded by Mr. Hinson and received unanimous vote of council.

The following ordinance was on 2nd reading:

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 954, KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR CHANGES IN ZONING BOUNDARIES

Mr. Hannah moved that the rules be suspended and the ordinance be placed on third reading, seconded by Mr. Hinson. All voted aye. After the reading of the ordinance, Mr. Stricklin moved for the adoption of same to include the emergency clause, seconded by Mrs. Haigler. All voted aye and the ordinance was given #1637.

The following ordinance was on 2nd reading:

AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING MAXIMUM TIME LIMITS FOR PARKING ON CITY STREETS AND PARKING LOTS WITHIN THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
