RESOLUTION TO LEVY A 1 MILL TAX ON ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY FOR THE POLICEMAN’S PENSION AND RELIEF FUND

WHEREAS: The fully, qualified, constituted and acting board of Trustees of the Policeman’s Pension and Relief Fund of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, have enacted and caused to be certified to the City Clerk of Jonesboro, Arkansas, a resolution on finding that the sum of $7,735.00 is necessary to discharge functions of said board during the year 1959;
WHEREAS: The City Council doth hereby approve said aforementioned resolution and certificate
WHEREAS: The City Council doth hereby find that the total assessed valuation of property both real and personal, within the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, is the sum of $7,735,230.00.
WHEREAS: The City Council doth find that in order to raise said sum of $7,735.00 it is necessary to levy a tax of 1 mill per dollar of assessed valuation of all real and personal property lying and situated within the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, for the year 1958, to be collected in the year 1959, and that the funds realized therefrom be devoted to the purposes set out in the Policeman’s Pension and Relief Acts and Ordinances.
(1) That the County Clerk of Craighead County of Craighead County, Arkansas, be and the same is hereby authorized and directed to extend said tax as herein described upon the tax books and that the same be collected in the same manner as other property taxes are collected.
(2) That the City Clerk is hereby directed to spread this resolution upon the minute books of the City and to certify a copy of the same to the County Clerk of Craighead County, Arkansas.
