RESOLUTION TO LEVY A 1 MILL TAX ON ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY FOR THE PUBLIC CITY LIBRARY TAX

WHEREAS: Pursuant to the terms of Amendment No.30 to the State of Arkansas Constitution, authorizing the qualified electors of Cities having a population of not less than 3000 to vote and levy a public City Library tax, a petition signed by more than 100 tax-paying electors of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas was filed with the Honorable Herbert Bosler, Mayor of said City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, asking that an annual tax on all real and personal property within the City specifying a rate of taxation of 1 mill on the dollar, whereupon said Mayor certified to the Board of Election Commissioners of Craighead County his findings that said petition was filed with him on March 1, 1941,a date at least 30 days prior to the General City Election to be held as required by law on Tuesday, April, 1, 1941, and that said petition was signed by more than 100 tax-paying electors of said City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and asked and directed said Board of Election Commissioners to submit to the electors of said City upon the ballot to be used in said City Election the question as to whether such tax should be levied, that the said Board of Election Commissioners duly certified to the said Mayor that a majority of the qualified voting on the question at such election voted in favor of the specified tax, and that said result of said election was duly proclaimed by said Mayor of said City of Jonesboro, Arkansas as duly adopted and as law.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
(1) That there be and the same is hereby levied on all real and personal property within the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas a public City Library tax of 1 mill on the dollar to be used for the maintenance of a public City Library for the year 1962 to b collected in the year 1963.
