AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE SALARY OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: That, the salary of the aldermen of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, is hereby fixed at $75.00 for each regular meeting of the City Council attended by said aldermen, beginning with the first meeting in January, 1973.

 

Section 2: That, all ordinances and laws in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

 

Section 3: It is found and declared by the City Council that the cost of living has risen since the last time said salary was adjusted and that the work and expenses of the aldermen have greatly increased since the last adjustment of salary; that the public interest and welfare requires an increase in said salary immediately; that the efficient administration of justice requires that this ordinance should be immediately effective; an emergency is therefore found an declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of public peace, health and welfare, this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.

 

PASSED and ADOPTED this 4th day of December, 1972.
