ORDINANCE TO VACATE AND ABANDON SIDNEY STREET BETWEEN WORD AVENUE AND BELT AVENUE AS REQUESTED BY MARGARET FRIER, BRENDA HERINGER AND SALLY SEWELL

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: The Council finds that Margaret S. Frier, Brenda S. Heringer and Sally S. Sewell have heretofore filed with the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, their Petition to Close and Vacate Sidney Street, extending between Word Avenue and Belt Avenue, between Blocks B and C of Stuck and Stuck Second Addition to the City of Jonesboro, in which they stated that the petitioners were the owners of all property abutting upon Sidney Street within the stated area, and they consented to the closing of that street; that the Council set the Petition for a public hearing at 7:00 o'clock p.m., July 7, 1980, in the City Council chambers, and the Notice was duly published in the Jonesboro Sun for the time and in the manner required by law; that the hearing was duly held; that the street in the area in question has not been actually used by the public as a street for a period of five years and in fact has never been open an used as a street by anyone at any time since the subdivision was platted; that the petitioners are the owners of all property abutting on the street and their consent has been duly filed for closing.
Section 2: IT IS THEREFORE, BY THE COUNCIL, ORDAINED that, from and after this date, Sidney Street extending between Word Avenue and Belt Avenue between Blocks B and C of Stuck and Stuck Second Addition to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, is hereby vacated and closed, and shall no longer be a public street or thoroughfare.
