CITY COUNCIL MEETING MONDAY NIGHT MARCH 6, 1972
The City Council of the City of Jonesboro met in regular session in City Hall, Monday night, March 6, 1972. There were present: Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk and the following named Councilmen: Pierce, Park, Dr. Bowers, Williams, Darling, Stricklin, Minx, Smith, Bowers, Harris, Johnson and Knight.
Dr. Bowers moved with Mr. Johnson seconding the motion that the City exercises an option on approximately 5 acres of land in the Fairview area at a cost of $30,250, providing that the city can get a Federal Grant for ½ the purchase price and that the option be in writing. All members voted aye and the motion was carried.
Dr. Bowers moved with Mr. Bowers seconding the motion that the release of property to Bajohr be tabled and the Industrial Committee of the Council make a recommendation at the next meeting. Mr. Stricklin passed and all other members voted aye and the motion carried.
The Mayor appointed Bill Hester and reappointed Dr. Don Hudson to the Board of Adjustments. Mr. Smith moved with Mr. Knight seconding the motion that the appointments be approved. All voted aye and the motion carried.
The Mayor appointed David Laser and reappointed Don Minx and Rufus McDaniel to the City Water & Light Board, all terms ending in 1975. Dr. Bowers moved with Mr. Johnson seconding the motion that the appointments be accepted. All aye, motion carried.
Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Darling seconding the motion that the City Attorney draw up an ordinance to amend the Board of Adjustment Ordinance. All members voted aye and the motion carried.
The Ordinance #1331 annexing the Tilley property was on the third and final reading.
