AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF TWO (2) 1985 MACK TRUCK TRACTORS

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: That the City of Jonesboro MATA Department needs to purchase the following:
1985 MACK TRUCK TRACTOR, SERIAL NO. 1M2W133Y1FA00976
1985 MACK TRUCK TRACTOR, SERIAL NO. 1M2W133Y7FA00979
SECTION 2: That said vehicles may be purchased from Tom Clark Truck and Equipment, Inc. located in Searcy, Arkansas, for the sum of Thirty-Six Thousand Dollars ($36,000).
SECTION 3: That the City Council, in accord with the terms of A.C.A. 14-58-302(2) (b) hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Officer to purchase the above described vehicles for the price set forth in Section 2 above. Said amount shall be paid by money from the MATA Department's Gravel Road Project line item in the MATA Department Budget.
SECTION 4: It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire the above vehicles, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance, being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, shall take effect from and after its approval.
