AN ORDINANCE FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, THE QUESTION OF WHETHER A PETITION SHALL BE FILED BY SAID CITY IN THE COUNTY COURT OF CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, ARKANSAS FOR THE PURPOSE OF ANNEXING CERTAIN ADDITIONAL TERRITORY THERETO, AND EMPOWERING THE CITY ATTORNEY AND OTHER CITY OFFICIALS TO TAKE ALL NECESSARY STEPS FOR SAID ANNEXATION AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
SECTION 1. It is hereby found that it is desirable and necessary to annex the real property, more particularly hereinafter described, to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, said property being hereby found to be suitable for urban development.
It is further found that the annexation of said land, more particularly hereinafter described, is necessary in order to extend fire and police protection to said lands and to plan an orderly development as a part of the Jonesboro community and that such annexation will protect the best interest, convenience and welfare of the people of the said City and of the inhabitants of said land herein sought to be annexed that said land is of a kind properly to be included in the City; and said land is contiguous to said City as now bounded.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk is therefore hereby directed to certify the following question to the Craighead County Board of Election Commissioners to be voted upon by the qualified electors of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, in the General City Election to be held in the said City on Tuesday, April 6, 1948.
The following question is hereby submitted to the qualified electors of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas: Shall the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, file a petition in the County Court of the Craighead County, Arkansas, and take all other necessary steps for the annexation of the following described real property to the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, said land lying in the County of Craighead and Western or Jo...
