Minutes for the special called City Council meeting on June 17, 1958

The City Council of the City of Jonesboro met in a special session at 8:00 p.m., Tuesday night, June 17, 1958. There were present: Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk and the following named Councilmen: Johnson, Snow, Brickell, Heern, Field, Copeland and Ebbert. Absent: Keister, Parks and Hamilton.
The bids for the new City Hall were opened by Mr. Elmer Struck. The bids were much higher than anticipated. They ranged from $272,300.00 down to $249,000.00. After discussion, Mr. Heern made the motion, seconded by Mr. Brickell, that Mr. Stuck negotiate with the low bidder, Ben White and Sons and come back to Council with a recommendation. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
Mr. Heern made the motion, seconded by Mr. Brickell, that the Mayor have the authority to purchase an air conditioner for the court room not to exceed $265.00. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
Mr. Brickell made the motion, seconded by Mr. Ebbert, that Council adjourn. Council voted unanimously to adjourn.
