Minutes for the City Council meeting on March 2, 1970.

The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Ark., met in regular session in City Hall, Monday night, March 2, 1970, at 7:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Clerk and the following named Councilmen: Pierce, Park, Dr. Bowers, Young, Darling, Stricklin, Minx, Williams, Johnson and Knight. Absent: City Attorney and Bowers.
Mr. Minx moved with Mr. Williams seconding the motion that the Carters Temple CME Church be granted permission to solicit funds for a period of 30 days. All present voted aye and the motion carried.
After a report from a committee of insurance men, Mr. Minx moved with Dr. Bowers seconding the motion that a further study, concerning the retirement plan for non-uniformed employees be made and that the matter be tabled for two weeks. All members present voted aye and the motion carried.
Mr. Darling moved with Dr. Bowers seconding the motion that the cooperation agreement between the City and the Jonesboro Urban Renewal and Housing Authority be approved and accepted. On the roll call, all present voted aye and the motion was carried.
Mr. Pardew moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that East Lake City be changed to East Highland Drive and that the Fire Chief remember that portion east of the railroad. All members present voted aye and the motion carried.
Mr. Pardew moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that the bills as okayed by the Finance Committee be paid. All present voted aye and the motion carried.
There being no further business, Council voted unanimously to adjourn.
