BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

Section 1: Section 6 of Ordinance No. 1266 as amended shall be amended to read as follows: There is hereby created the position of Animal Control Officer whose salary shall be fixed by the City Council. The Animal Control Office shall be entitled to additional help as from time to time is determined by a majority vote of the City Council. Appointment of the Animal Control Officer shall be by the Mayor and shall be a regularly commissioned police officer with full police authorities, subject however, to the consent and approval of the Jonesboro City Council. The animal Control Officer shall exercise the powers and duties as provided in this Ordinance and in addition thereto shall perform such duties as may be delegated by him by the Mayor and/or City Council.

Section 2: Section 7 of Ordinance No. 1266 as amended shall be amended to read as follows: All dogs within the corporate limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas shall be required to have attached to a collar or harness, a tag which shall state the name, address and telephone number, if applicable of the owner. Any dog picked up without a tag shall be considered to be a stray or abandoned dog for the purposes of this Ordinance and may be humanely destroyed within twenty-four (24) hours unless reclaimed by its owner within the twenty-four (24) hour period.

Section 3: Ordinance No. 1266 shall be amended by inclusion of the following provision: The animal Control Officer shall immediately take any injured, ill or diseased dog to the City Veterinarian who shall examine the dog or have its agent or employee examine the dog and shall determine whet...
