AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF A 1993 DEMONSTRATOR FIRE TRUCK WITH SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: That the Fire Department is in need of purchasing the demonstrator fire truck with equipment and supplies to meet the growing demand due to annexations.
SECTION 2: That the above mentioned equipment (Series number 12163) is to be purchased from Emergency One located in Florida for the amount of $171,000.00.
SECTION 3: That the City Council in accord with the terms of A.C.A. 14-58-302 (2B) hereby waive the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Officer to purchase the above described equipment for the price set forth above. Said amount shall be paid from the Fire Department budget.
SECTION 4: It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire the above equipment, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the Public peace, health and safety shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
