RESOLUTION TO UPGRADE THE ORIGINAL SERVICE APPLICATION FOR UNIVERSAL EMERGENCY NUMBER SERVICE  E -911 WITH AT&T, PROVIDING FOR AN UPDATE TO THE VESTA  PALLAS  E-911 PHONE SYSTEM

WHEREAS, Jonesboro is currently operating on a Vesta Pallas E 911 Phone System  AT&T through a five year lease plan at an annual cost of $26,932.00 with a 5.37% interest rate; and

 

WHEREAS, a required update to the Vesta Pallas E 911 Phone System is due by March 1, 2010 in order for AT & T to continue to provide full maintenance and support to the City of Jonesboro; And

 

WHEREAS, cost of the upgrade is $118,195.00 providing for two new E911 call positions, 60 months maintenance & support, and licensing of the software ; And

 

WHEREAS, Jonesboro has been awarded $94,556.00 through a grant with the Emergency Telephone Service Board to off-set the cost to the City of Jonesboro; and

 

WHEREAS, the final cost to the City of Jonesboro will be $26,000.00 to be a one-time payment to be appropriated in the 2010 budget.

 

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:

 

Section 1.   The upgrade to the original service application for Universal Emergency Number Service E-911 with AT&T be approved.

 

Section 2.  The Mayor, Harold Perrin, and the City Clerk, Donna K. Jackson, are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this agreement.
