A RESOLUTION TO REQUEST CITY WATER AND LIGHT TO COORDINATE WITH CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, ARKANSAS IN SECURING INTERCEPTOR SEWER LINES IN PRATT CIRCLE

WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has closed the Pratt Circle project with prejudice and the result being that Craighead County, Arkansas cannot receive any block grant funds until such time as an interceptor sewer line is connected or proposed to be connected with Pratt Circle; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas has expressed concern about problems with drainage easements, drainage improvements, roadway construction and sewer facilities in Pratt Circle; and
WHEREAS, Craighead County, Arkansas has informed the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that it will need additional time to bring Pratt Circle in compliance with the standards set by the City; and
WHEREAS, Craighead County, Arkansas has assured the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that the residents of Pratt Circle will seek annexation to the City of Jonesboro once the above mentioned problems are solved; said period not to exceed 5 (five) years from the date of this resolution; and
WHEREAS, to facilitate the expedient resolution of this unique situation at Pratt Circle the City of Jonesboro requests that City Water and Light coordinate its efforts with Craighead County, Arkansas for the installation of interceptor sewer lines in Pratt Circle.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Jonesboro, Arkansas that City Water and Light is requested to coordinate its efforts with Craighead County, Arkansas for the installation of interceptor sewer lines in Pratt Circle.
