RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF PROPERTY FROM MISSISSIPPI VALLEY LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY AND MARION FARLEY LOCATED ADJACENT TO THE PRESENT CITY PARKING LOT FACING MONROE AVENUE FOR AN ADDITIONAL OFF-STREET PARKING FACILITY FOR $21,000.00 FOR BOTH PROPERTIES

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is in dire need of additional off-street parking facilities; and
WHEREAS, such additional off-street parking will be in the general interest, and relieve traffic congestion.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Jonesboro setting in regular assembled session this September 3rd, 1957, that the City of Jonesboro purchase the property of the Mississippi Valley Life Insurance Co. and of Marion Farley located adjacent to the present city parking lot facing on Monroe Avenue at the purchase price of $21,000.00 for both pieces of property; and
The Mayor and the Cit Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to do and perform any and every act necessary or required to purchase said property ant take title thereto in the name of said City;
Said purchase price to be paid from the un-pledged parking meter revenues; the Mayor and City Clerk are further hereby authorized and directed to pledge up to one half of the parking meter revenues, and to execute evidences of indebtedness in form to be approved by the Council.
