RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT PERTAINING TO A TOPICS STUDY FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is in need of short range improvements to increase traffic flow and safety on its major street system; and
WHEREAS, the 1959 Jonesboro Comprehensive Planning Study may provide support information for a Traffic Operations Program to Increase Capacity and Safety; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is now conducting a comprehensive 701 planning study which should provide additional planning data; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro wishes to express its desire and interest to be selected for a TOPICS study;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: That, the City of Jonesboro, through its City Council, hereby authorizes the Mayor to enter into an Agreement with the Arkansas Highway Department pertaining to the conduct of a TOPICS study for Jonesboro.
Section 2: That, the City of Jonesboro pledges its full support and cooperation to the Arkansas Highway Department and to all other agencies involved in the project.
Section 3: That, the City of Jonesboro will participate in accordance with its designated responsibility in the implementation of the recommendations provided in the approved report.
