ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE ALLEY BY THE GOVERNMENT BUILDING
body
That whereas, on account of the location of the Government Building, it is necessary and advisable that the present alley, one hundred feet in length, running East from Church Street, and between Jackson and Washington Avenues, be closed and disposed of, provided another alley of the same width and direction and adjoining said alley can be secured for the City immediately North of the existing alley; therefore, the said alley is hereby ordered closed, and the same shall be disposed of as hereinafter provided.
The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby appointed commissioners to make, execute, acknowledge and deliver to H.A. Stroud, his heirs and assigns, a quit-claim deed conveying to them the land comprising the present alley, for the said distance of One Hundred Feet, and to deliver possession thereof; provided, however, that before this shall be done, the said H.A. Stroud, his heirs or assigns, shall first make, execute, acknowledge and deliver and shall have recorded at his expense, a warranty deed conveying to the City of Jonesboro a strip for an alley, of the same width as the existing alley, one hundred feet in length, and adjoining the existing alley, and running East from Church Street, between Jackson and Washington Avenues, which shall be consideration for the conveyance by the commissioners of said City.
