AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 954 KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR CHANGES IN ZONING BOUNDARIES FROM R-1 TO C-3 LOCATED ON HIGHLAND AVENUE AND BERNARD STREET

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: That Ordinance No. 954 known as the zoning Ordinance of the City of Jonesboro be amended as recommended by the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission by the change in zoning district boundaries as follows:
Being a tract in the West ½, NE ¼, NE ¼, Section 29, Township 14 North, Range 4 East, Jonesboro, Craighead County, Arkansas, more particularly described as follows: Beginning at the Southeast corner of Highland Drive and Bernard Street, said point being the true point of beginning. Thence East 335.0 feet, to a point, said point being in the south right-of-way line of Highland Drive, thence South 1,272.94 feet, to a point, thence West 338.40 feet to a point in the East right-of-way line of Bernard Street, 1,315.60 feet to the point of beginning. Therein described parcel contains 433,524.244 sq. ft., or 9.952 acres, more or less.
Section 2: It is found and declared by the City Council that proper use of the tracts of land described in this Ordinance is being delayed because of improper zoning and that, therefore, an emergency exists and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
