AN ORDINANCE DESCRIBING PARTICULAR MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JONESBORO STREET DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is experiencing a lack of City Street funds to adequately maintain the street system; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro has decreased its work force in order to provide funds for street materials and ACHM overlays;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas;
Section 1: The City of Jonesboro will no longer maintain drainage ditches other than those located on city street right-of-way, unless an emergency is declared to exist by the Street Committee of the City Council.
Section 2: The City of Jonesboro will limit its mowing operations to city street right-of-ways, and only that portion of the right-of-way is necessary to be mowed for public safety.
Section 3: The City of Jonesboro will no longer participate in the cost, or furnish labor to construct curb and gutter on city streets, unless an emergency is declared to exist by the Street Committee of the City Council.
Section 4: The City of Jonesboro will actively enforce Article II, Chapter 20, of the Jonesboro Code of Ordinances which describes the manner in which sidewalks are maintained and constructed.
Section 5: The City of Jonesboro will no longer participate in the cost or provide labor for the installation of storm sewer and or driveway title in ditches on city street right-of-way unless an emergency is declared to exist by the Street Committee of City Council.
Section 6: The City of Jonesboro will actively enforce Article III of Chapter 20 of the Jonesboro Code of Ordinances which describes the manner in which excavations for plumber cuts will be backfilled.
