Minutes for the City Council meeting on September 18, 1967

The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas met in regular session in City Hall, Monday night, September 18, 1967, at 7:30 p.m. There were present: City Attorney, City Clerk and the following named Councilmen: Pierce, Turner, Bennett, Ledbetter, Darling, Stricklin, Minx, Bowers, Copeland, Young, Johnson and Knight. Absent: Mayor Stallings.
Vice Mayor, Walter Darling presided over the meeting.
County Judge Bill Clark appeared before Council asking that the City help pay the expenses of the Health Department in the sum of $6,200.00. The matter was turned over to the Finance Committee for study and recommendation.
A lease agreement between Bill Ebbert and the City was presented to the Council. After much discussion, Mr. Turner moved with Mr. Bowers seconding the motion that the matter be tabled until the next meeting. On calling the roll, voting aye: Pierce, Turner, Bennett, Ledbetter, Stricklin, Minx, Bowers, Copeland and Knight. Voting nay: Mr. Young and Mr. Johnson passed. Motion carried.
Mr. Johnson moved with Mr. Knight seconding the motion that the bills as okayed by the Finance Committee be paid. All voted aye and the motion was carried.
Mr. Minx moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that the City black top 2 blocks around the Helen Dudley School, the 1300 block of Logan and the 700 block of Houghton. All voted aye on the roll call and the school. Motion was carried.
There being no further business, Council voted unanimously to adjourn.
