AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING THE MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT ON STREETS IN FAIRVIEW ADDITION; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: From and after passage and adoption of the Ordinance the maximum speed limit on Brazos Street from Highland Drive to Fairview Street, Parkside Drive from Highland Drive to Fairview Street, Parkwood Street from Brazos Street to Fairfield Drive, Fairview Street from Young Street to West Acre Drive, Meador Road for Young Street to Fairfield Drive and Race Street from Young Street to Willow Road shall be 20 mph.

 

Section 2: The Chief of Police or some other person designated by him is hereby directed to place and locate upon the above described street at the proper places, appropriate signs reading “20 mph” and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to tear down, or mutilate such signs.

 

Section 3: Every person convicted of a violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than $50.00.

 

Section 4: All Ordinance and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

 

Section 5: It is found and declared by the City Council that the increasing amount of traffic congestion and lack of traffic control devices have caused danger to life and property and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and adoption.
