RESOLUTION TO ADOPT THE “JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, TRANSPORTATION, LAND USE AND POPULATION PLAN BOOK”

WHEREAS, the City Council, in December of 1959, approved negotiations for a Comprehensive Study of Transportation, contract for same was entered into by the City on April 1, 1960, with the participating agencies, University of Arkansas, City Planning Division; Arkansas State Highway Department, Division of Planning and Research; Housing and Home Finance Agency, Urban Renewal Administration; and U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Public Road; and appointed a Traffic Study Advisory Commission of citizens and officials of the City of Jonesboro; and
WHEREAS, said study, after the gathering of large amounts of data, analyzing same, and after review and re-review by representatives of the agencies concerned, was presented to the Planning Commission of the City of Jonesboro. A public hearing was held after 15 days published notice, and thereafter the Planning Commission approved and adopted the Plan and certified same to the City Council, with recommendation that it be adopted and approved by the Council as a plan and guide for future improvements within the City of Jonesboro, to be performed by Federal and State Agencies, as well as by the City; and
WHERAS, the City Council of Jonesboro has been informed of features of the Plan during the time same was under study, has adopted ordinances and performed works of improvement in conformity to the Plan, and finds that the adoption of same is in the interest of the citizens of Jonesboro;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council adopt, as an official plan and guide for such future improvements as may be found feasible, the Plan entitles “Jonesboro, Arkansas, Transportation, Land Use and Population Plan Book.”
