A RESOLUTION TO CONTRACT WITH THE ARKANSAS STATE HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE TURTLE CREEK GREENWAY

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro applied for funding through the Arkansas Recreational Trails Grant to improve Jonesboro transportation with the development of the Jonesboro Greenway; and
WHEREAS, the Recreational Trails Grant is an 80/20 matching grant; and
WHEREAS, the total federal share of the cost of this project will be $57,741.00. These funds will be matched by $14,435.00 by the City of Jonesboro. Funds shall come from account number 09-100-0633-00 in the 2008 budget; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro understands that Federal-Aid Funds are available for this project on a reimbursable basis, requiring work to be accomplished and proof of payment prior to actual monetary reimbursement; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro understands that there will not be reimbursement for any work accomplished prior to the issuance by the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department of an official Notice To Proceed; and
WHEREAS, this project using federal funding, will be open and available for use by the general public and maintained by the City of Jonesboro; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
Section 1: The City of Jonesboro shall enter into an agreement of understanding with the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department to construct Section III of Phase I of the Turtle Creek Greenway with funds from the Recreational Trails Grant.
Section 2: The Mayor, Doug Formon, and the City Clerk, Donna Jackson are hereby authorized and directed to execute all appropriate agreements and contracts necessary to expedite the construction of the above stated project.
