RESOLUTION APPROVING OF THE $1.25 RATE PER DWELLING FOR GARBAGE PICKUP

WHEREAS, Section 18 of Ordinance No. 778 being entitled “An Ordinance providing for the collection of garbage and refuse in the City of Jonesboro, providing for the inspection of premises, fixing a schedule of fees for said services, providing for penalty for the violation hereof, and for all other purposes,” provides that the City Council have the power to reduce or increase the fees for garbage service by resolution adopted at any regular meeting of said City Council, and
WHEREAS, the present fee schedule does not provide adequate income to defray the expense of such service, and
WHEREAS, the present fee schedule inadequate, discriminatory and not uniform;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Jonesboro that effective July 1, 1957, and thereafter the fees to be charged and paid for the collection and disposal of garbage shall be on a monthly basis, payable in advance at the rate of One and 25/100 ($1.25) for each dwelling house, apartment, or one family unit regardless of size of house, number of rooms or number of members in the family.
