AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF BRIDGE PANELS AND CONCRETE PILINGS FOR REPLACEMENT OF TWO BRIDGES IN THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS. THE BRIDGE LOCATIONS ARE BARNHILL ROAD, OVER GUM SLOUGH, AND LIMESTONE DRIVE, OVER VINEY SLOUGH DITCH (NOTE: THIS ORDINANCE WAS AMENDED BY ORD-96:432 ON NOVEMBER 4, 1996)

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: That the Jonesboro Street Department of the City of Jonesboro needs to purchase bridge panels and concrete pilings.
SECTION 2: That said bridge panels can be obtained from Choctaw, Inc, Little Rock, Arkansas, at a cost of $79,352.00 and concrete pilings from CPI Concrete Products, Memphis, Tennessee, at a cost of $13,485.00, purchased from Craighead County bid.
SECTION 3: That the City Council in accord with the terms of A.C.A. 14-58-302 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Officer to purchase the above described services for the price set forth in Section 2 above.
SECTION 4: It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire these services an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
