A RESOLUTION TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF POLICE PACKAGE AND FIRE PACKAGE CHEVROLET TAHOES AND POLICE UNITS EQUIPMENT

WHEREAS, Resolution 22-194 established a City of Jonesboro Equipment Depreciation Fund for 2022 allowing for the purchase of emergency vehicle fleet including one Police Package Chevrolet Tahoe, two Fire Package Chevrolet Tahoes and up fitting equipment for Police Patrol units; and
WHEREAS, the State Procurement Program did not award a contract for State Bid priced Chevrolet Tahoes; and
WHEREAS, since it is unknown when these vehicle types will be available again due to supply disruptions, city staff performed extensive research throughout the region to locate comparably priced vehicles and up fitting of equipment; and
WHEREAS, the provided quotes for properly equipped Chevrolet Tahoes are competitive compared to historic state bid pricing.
WHEREAS, written bids were received to up fit 20 Patrol Units included in the Equipment Depreciation Fund for 2022.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The vehicles and equipment are available from Superior Auto Group of Siloam Springs, AR for $62,635 for an equipped Chevrolet Tahoe for the Police Department, $55,403, each for equipped Chevrolet Tahoes for the Fire Department and $12,644 for up fitting each patrol unit.
SECTION 2: The City Council in accordance with the terms of A.C.A. Section 14-58-303 hereby waive the requirement of competitive bidding and direct the purchasing agent to purchase the above-described vehicles and equipment for the price set forth above.
