Minutes for the City Council meeting on April 15, 1957

The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Ark. met in regular session in City Hall at 7:30 p.m. Monday night, April 15, 1957. There were present: Mayor, City Atty., City Clerk and the following named Councilmen: Keister, Johnson, Fritz, Field, Copeland, Stricklin, Brickell, Snow, Hamilton and Hart.
Mr. Field made the motion, seconded by Mr. Hamilton that Ordinance #934 be placed on the second reading. Roll was called. All present voting aye. Mr. Stricklin was absent on this vote. Motion carried. Mr. Keister read the Ordinance in full.
AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL ORDINANCES NO. 619 AND NO. 750, SAME BEING ORDINANCES LICENSING POOL ROOMS AND BOWLING ALLEYS AND REQUIRING SAME TO BE ON GROUND FLOOR; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
Mr. Stricklin made the motion, seconded by Dr. Fritz, that the Ordinance be placed on the third and final reading. Roll was called. Keister, Fritz, Field, Copeland, Stricklin, Brickell and Hart voted aye. Johnson, Snow and Hamilton voted no. Motion carried. Mr. Keister then read the Ordinance in full. Mr. Copeland made the motion, seconded by Dr. Fritz, that Ordinance #934 be adopted. Roll was called. Keister, Fritz, Field, Copeland, Stricklin, Brickell and Hart voted aye. Johnson, Snow and Hamilton voted no. Motion carried.
Mr. Johnson made the motion, seconded by Mr. Hamilton, that $120.00 be allowed for the Welcome to Jonesboro sign for year 1957. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
Mr. Hart made the motion, seconded by Mr. Hamilton, that the bills as okayed by the Finance Committee be paid. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
There being no further business Mr. Hamilton moved with Mr. Hart seconding that Council adjourn. All aye. Council adjourned.
