AN ORDINANCE TO ABANDON AND VACATE A PORTION OF GREENSBORO ROAD

WHEREAS, a petition was duly filed with City Council of Jonesboro, Arkansas, on the 21st day of August, 1950, asking the City Council to vacate and abandon the following described portion of Greensboro Road, a public street in the City of Jonesboro:
All that part of the Greensboro Road and appurtenant right-of-way lying between the East right-of-way line of North Drake Street extended and the West line of North Fisher Street extended, lying in the Southeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 7, and the Northeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section 18, all in Township 14 North, Range 4 East;
Pursuant to the directory resolution of the City Council adopted on the 3rd day of April, 1950; and
WHEREAS, after due notice as required by law and the said resolution the Council has, at the time and place mentioned in said notice, heard all persons desiring to be heard on the question, and has found that said portion of said street is not necessary to the public convenience; that said street runs directly through the playground of North School in Jonesboro Special District; that its continued use as a street would create an unusual hazard for school children; that said portion of said street is not now or will not be needed for corporate purposes and should be vacated, released and abandoned, and conveyed to the Jonesboro Special School District for public school purpose.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas;
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, hereby vacates, releases, abandons and conveys to the Jonesboro Special School District of said County all its rights, together with the rights of the public generally in said portion of said public street hereinbefore specifically described.
