A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS TO APPROVE AND ENDORSE SEGMENTS OF CERTAIN ROUTES THROUGH THE  JONESBORO INCORPORATED AREA AS OFFICIAL SEGMENTS OF THE STATE SCENIC BYWAY KNOWN AS THE CROWLEY’S RIDGE PARKWAY

body

WHEREAS, Act 382 of 1997 of the 81st General Assembly of the State of Arkansas designated a route extending from St. Francis in Clay County to Helena in Phillips County, and including portions of several highways, as an Arkansas Scenic Highway, known as the Crowley’s Ridge Parkway; and

WHEREAS, Arkansas State Highway Commission Minute Order No. 97-187 designated this same route as an Arkansas Scenic Byway, with certain exceptions; and

WHEREAS, those exceptions exclude all portions of the legislatively designated route that are within city limits of municipalities, unless those municipalities specifically request to be included within a timely fashion; and

WHEREAS, inclusion as an official segment of the route requires those municipalities to comply with state requirements regarding control of outdoor advertising along state scenic byways pursuant to Arkansas State Highway Commission Minute Order No. 87-518, as amended;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Jonesboro, Arkansas requests inclusion of those segments of the legislatively designated state scenic highway that fall within the city limits of Jonesboro, Arkansas, as official segments of the State Scenic Byways approved by the Arkansas Highway Commission.
