RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO APPLY FOR A FEDERAL GRANT FOR DEVELOPMENT OF THE KATHLEEN STREET INDUSTRIAL PARK AND TO SECURE THE SERVICES OF GARVER PLANNING ASSOCIATES

BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

The City of Jonesboro owns a 400 acre Kathleen Street Industrial Park which has been purchased for the purpose of industrial expansion for Jonesboro;  and

 

WHEREAS,  the City has owned the industrial property for sometime but has not been able to develop land, street, sewer and utility developments  in the area due to lack of funds;  and

 

WHEREAS, the Northeast Arkansas Economic Development District, which is a 12 county center, puts the City of Jonesboro in an advantageous position for federal grants;

 

IT  IS THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Mayor or the City of Jonesboro shall have the authority and hereby directed  to make application for a federal grant for the development of the Kathleen Street Industrial  Park and the Mayor is further authorized to secure the services of Garver Planning Associates of Little Rock,  Arkansas, and Garver and Garver, Engineers, to assist in the application for the federal grant, and to employ the Garver Planning Associates, and Garver & Garver, Engineers, if said grant is approved.
