RESOLUTION EMPOWERING THE CITY TRANSIT COMMISSION TO ACT UPON ALL MATTERS AFFECTING PUBLIC BUS SERVICE WITHIN THE CITY OF JONESBORO

WHEREAS, by Resolution of this Council on August 19, 1963, the City Transit Commission was charged with the responsibility of supervising routes and fares charged with the responsibility of supervising routes and fares charged by City Bus Lines, Inc., a privately owned corporation, but said Resolution did not specifically authorize the Commission to have jurisdiction over other bus systems which might desire to operate within the City, and

 

WHEREAS, it is in the best public interest to establish authority in the City Transit Commission to determine all matters which may arise affecting the operation of public bus services, so that all such services can be coordinated and the public interest be protected.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, that the City Transit Commission be empowered to act upon all matters affecting public bus service within the City of Jonesboro, including, but not limited to, establishing areas of operation, approving requested rates, routes and fares, establishing regulations concerning such matters as insurance on vehicles and inspection of vehicles.
