A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS GRANTS AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT TO APPLY FOR THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FY22 LOW-NO EMISSIONS GRANT

WHEREAS, applications are now being accepted for the FY22 Low-No Emissions grant; and
WHEREAS, the Low-No Emissions grant will cover the cost of hybrid gas/electric powered buses;
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas is seeking federal funding of $746,796.52 for the purchase of five hybrid gas/electric trolley style buses totaling $878,584.14. The local match of 15%, $131,787.62, will be obtained through the street fund or general fund.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The City of Jonesboro, Arkansas supports the submission of the application to the FY22 Low-No Emissions grant for five hybrid gas/electric trolley style buses.
SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this application.
SECTION 3: The Grants and Community Development Department is hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to submit all necessary documents for this federal program.
