RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT TO ACQUIRE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1700 DISCIPLE DRIVE FROM THE PROPERTY OWNER, CORNERSTONE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro desires to acquire property located at 1700 Disciple Drive, Jonesboro, Arkansas, and owned by Cornerstone United Methodist Church:

 

Property described as; Lot 3A of Cornerstone United Methodist Church addition. Replat of Lots 3 and 4 of Cornerstone United Methodist Church addition to the City of Jonesboro, Craighead County, Arkansas, as shown in plat recorded in Plat Cabinet C at Page 101 at Jonesboro, Arkansas, subject to easements as shown on recorded plat.

 

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro will use the property in perpetuity as a public park space; and

 

WHEREAS, a portion of the purchase price will be used to satisfy the match requirements of a grant from the United States National Parks Service; and

 

WHEREAS, the lack of neighborhood park space in this area of the city was identified as deficient by the Master Parks Plan adopted by City Council; and

 

WHEREAS, the property has many natural attributes that will positively impact the outdoor recreation opportunities for the citizens of Jonesboro; and

 

WHEREAS, an offer has been made and accepted to purchase the above-described property for the price of $300,001.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:

 

SECTION 1: The City of Jonesboro, Arkansas hereby authorizes the purchase of property located at 1700 Disciple Drive, Jonesboro, AR at a purchase price of $300,001.

 

SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to execute all documents necessary to effectuate the purchase of this property.
