A RESOLUTION ALLOWING THE MAYOR TO EXTEND A CURFEW DUE TO THE DECLARATION OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, Ordinance 20:013 was adopted by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro on April 7, 2020 to allow the Mayor to place an emergency curfew pursuant to state law for no longer than 120 days or until the next regularly scheduled city council meeting; and,

 

WHEREAS, on April 9, 2020, Mayor Harold Perrin issued a Declaration of Local Emergency and issued an Executive Order for the purpose of instituting a nighttime curfew within the City of Jonesboro from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting April 10, 2020, subject to certain conditions as identified in the Executive Order, and ending the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Jonesboro City Council, which is set for April 21, 2020.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, THAT:

 

Section 1:  The Mayor is allowed to extend the curfew until the next regularly scheduled meeting of the City Council on May 5, 2020.
