AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO TO AMEND THE 2015 ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY FOR THE OPERATIONAL CONTINUITY OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

WHEREAS, Ordinance Number 14:074 adopted the 2015 Budget; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department is needing to add a Police Sergeant position to cover the expanding role of community outreach and Citizens Police Academy; and
WHEREAS, the 2015 Police Department Budget will need to be increased in the amount of $9,000 in order to effectuate the increased position of Sergeant.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The sum of $9,000 be added to the Police Department's Budget for salaries, said sum coming from the unappropriated funds in the General Fund.
SECTION 2: This ordinance being necessary for the operational continuity of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
